Hope & Help Hour – Spring Series – January 16

January 16, 2020 @ 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Our January 16 topic “From a Patient’s Perspective” presented by Mr. Don Kent.

Don Kent is a retired lawyer, having practiced for over 41 years.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Baylor University and a law degree from the University of Houston Law School.  He was board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  From 1987 until his retirement in December 2017, he focused his practice in medical malpractice defense – defending doctors, dentists, hospitals, nurses, and other related health care professionals in lawsuits involving claims of medical negligence.  He tried over 100 cases to jury verdict, including one case televised nationally on court television.  Since his retirement in December 2017, he has spoken publicly in numerous occasions about his diagnosis of Lewy Body dementia to promote public awareness and education on dementia illnesses and to reduce the stigma often associated with those diseases.  He works with the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County (serving on its Board of Directors) and the Lewy Body Dementia Association in these efforts.
